Obituary of Roger McDermott Briggs

BRIGGS, Roger McDermott “Bud” Age 88 of Horseheads. He was born on January 23,1930 in Keeneyville, PA, the son of the late Dean and Olive (McDermott) Briggs and passed away on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at Elcor. In addition to his parents Roger was predeceased by his brothers Robert & Richard Briggs, and sister Shirley Dix. He is survived by his loving wife of over 60 years, Joy Briggs; daughters Kim (Michael) Aiello, and Colleen (Geoff) Betters; bother Thomas Briggs; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; along with several dear nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends. Roger served in the Army during the Korean Conflict from 1951 to 1953. He retired from Collins & Walton in Elmira where he was partner in the business. He was a member of the Horseheads Elks Lodge #2297. Most of all, “Bud” will be remembered as a kind and loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather. Family and friends are invited to visit the Barber Funeral Home, 413 S. Main St. in Horseheads, on Friday, January 11, 2019 from 5 pm to 7 pm. A memorial service for Roger will be held there at 7 pm. Private interment with military honors will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, those wishing may make a donation in Roger’s name to a charity of your choice.
