Obituary of Barbara Ann Zeigler

Barbara Ann (Hart) Zeigler Age 87 of Pheasant Hill in Horseheads passed away Monday April 19 2021, at her home, with her children by her side. Barbara was born on April 13, 1934 in Elmira, NY, to the late Herman and Christine (Bauman) Hart. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her love of nearly 63 years, Paul Richard (Dick) Zeigler; and sister, Lois Rodman. She is survived by her daughter and son, Barbara (Douglas) DeLuca of Park City, UT, Paul (Jackie) Zeigler of Horseheads, NY; practically-a-daughter Darlene Cole of Elmira, NY; grandchildren, Jason (Marissa) Zeigler, Jessica (Rogan) Parker, Benjamin (Brittney) Kelley, Kecia Kelley, and Jennifer (Sammy) Peppers; great grandchildren, Jakob Zeigler, Nova Anne Parker, Taye Peppers, and Julianna Hart Zeigler; brothers-in-law, Raymond (Glenna) Zeigler and Donald (Jan) Zeigler of Horseheads; with many nieces and nephews, extended family members and lifelong friends. Barbara graduated from Elmira Free Academy and Arnot-Ogden School of Nursing in 1956. While in school a patient introduced her to her son, Dick. They were married October 23, 1954 and together, owned and operated Zeigler Florists, a family business that will soon celebrate it’s 75th anniversary. She loved spending time at their family cottage, “Auf Wiedersehen” on Keuka Lake. Dick and Barb entertained many family and friends there. She was a member of St. Matthews Episcopal Church and Horseheads Order of Eastern Star #423. Family and friends are invited to visit the Barber Funeral Home, 413 S. Main St., in Horseheads, on Thursday, April 22nd from 4 pm to 6 pm. Barbara’s funeral service will be celebrated at 6 pm. Committal and interment will be held in Maple Grove Cemetery in Horseheads, on Friday, April 23rd at 11 am.
