Obituary of Grace R. Betts

BETTS, Grace R. Age 90, a longtime resident of Horseheads, originally of Hoboken, NJ, passed away in her sleep on Feb. 1, 2010. Grace was predeceased by her husband Robert Betts on Dec. 27, 1998. Grace was born Nov. 8, 1920, one of eight children of the late John and Rosa (Lauro) Izzo. She is survived by her son, Peter Calabrese of San Francisco, CA., her grandson Nicholas Calabrese and his wife Amber of Santa Rosa CA, a great grandson, Nicholas Jr., two sisters, Mrs. Rose Chryzstak and Mrs. Jeanne Barlow, and over 30 nieces and nephews. Grace was a devoted homemaker. She especially loved to garden and bake, and her memorable pastries were sampled by many of her friends at the Horseheads Museum where she volunteered regularly. Grace was able to celebrate her 90th birthday last November with over 60 family and friends at her favorite Italian restaurant in Lakewood NJ, where she resided for the past eight years until her passing.
