Obituary of Connie Marie Smith

Smith, Connie Marie Connie Marie Smith, age 72 of Horseheads; she passed away early Friday morning, July 30th 2021, with her family by her side. She married the late Leland Smith in the little town of Big Flats, NY, where she raised 3 children, Teresa Smith, Chris Smith, and Brian Smith. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Devin Curkendall, Kara Curkendall, and Aiden Jurns; her great grandchild Lincoln Mauk; her brothers and sisters Dodie Cullen, Tammy Beck, Linda Peters, Karen Tillotson, Dave Gublo, Ted Gublo, and Denny Titsworth; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. Connie had to be one of the strongest woman on the planet. She battled Rheumatoid Arthritis for about 40 years, and lung cancer for at least the past 3 years. Even though she was always in immense pain, Connie would always find the will and the strength to get up and walk around on crippled legs, just to give you a big hug with her tiny arms. When asked how she was feeling, she would always respond that she was okay and would be sure to ask how you were doing. If her feeling were ever hurt by a loved one, she did not hold a grudge; she would welcome them with open arms and a most thoughtful “I love you” and “I am sorry” every time. Connie will be laid to rest with her dear husband, who has been watching over her and waiting until they can finally be together again, in Maple Grove Cemetery in a private family ceremony.
