Obituary of Darlene J Ike
IKE, Darlene J. Age 66 of Horseheads, NY. She was born June 12, 1955 in Elmira, daughter of the late Frank and Inez (White) Wright and passed away Wednesday, December 1, 2021 at home after a brief illness. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a son Wes Ike and granddaughter Alora Ike. Darlene is survived by her loving husband of 35 years, RC Ike; children Stacey Gallacher, MD of Belmar, NJ, Joy Marie Ike of Corning, NY, Daniel & Kerry Ike of Horseheads, NY, RC & Resa Ike of Horseheads, NY; daughter-in-law Margaret Ike of Lawrenceville, GA; grandchildren Jay, Elizabeth, Trey, Hannah, Danielle and Holton Ike; mother Barbara Wright of Ft. Pierce, FL; sister and brother-in-law Dawn & David Webb of SC; brothers and sister-in-law Edward Wright of Elmira, NY, Louis & Karen Wright of SC, along with nieces, nephews and many friends. Darlene retired as Executive Director of Chemung County Meals on Wheels after 25 years of dedicated service. She was instrumental in growing the program with new directives, new buildings and new ideas. Darlene was a member of the Chemung County Sunrise Rotary where she was very active and treasurer for 12 years. She loved baking; making wedding cakes and baking cookies. She gifted cookies every Christmas to all her employees and friends, making dozens! She was truly a dedicated community servant, and will always be remembered for her compassion and kindness. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Darlene J. Ike Meals on Wheels building in the early summer and will be announced then.
