Obituary of Robert C. Mann

MANN, Robert C. Age 85 of E. Bennett Circle Elmira passed away unexpectedly on Sun. Mar. 6, 2011. He was born Oct. 21, 1925 in Elmira, NY, a son of the late Tracy and Grace (Palmer) Mann. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Mary (Harris) Mann; Son, Gregg Mann of Lowman, NY, Daughter, Patricia (Girma) Hundie of Greenbush, SC Grandson, Jonathan Meck; As well as nieces and nephews. Mr. Mann was also predeceased by his sister, Shirley Neal and brother, Gordon Mann. He was a WWII veteran of the US Army Air Corps where he served as a nose gunner aboard a B-24. Bob was retired from the US Postal Service where he worked as clerk in various local offices including Elmira, Southport, Elmira Heights, and the Sullivan St. Center. He was also an active volunteer and member of the North Presbyterian Church. Bob was well known in his neighborhood for offering help to those who needed it; he was available to lend a hand to anyone. Family and friends are invited to call at the Barber Funeral Home 413 S. Main St. Horseheads on Sat. Mar. 12, 2011 from 11:00 am-12:00 noon. His service will follow calling hours there at 12:00 noon.
