Obituary of Mabel Ruth Gaboriault

Mabel Ruth Gaboriault HORSEHEADS - Age 93, of Horseheads, NY. She was born on August 3rd, 1928 in Noxen, PA, the eldest daughter of the late Elwood and Nellie (Blizzard) Womer. Mabel passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home surrounded by her family on Tuesday, March 29th, 2022. She was predeceased by her sisters and brothers-in-law: Laura Moore, Betty (Ray) Cornish, Helen (Allison) Scutt, Priscilla Moore, and Bill Reuf. She is survived by her loving husband of 71 years, Leopold E. Gaboriault; their two sons: Joseph Gaboriault and David Gaboriault; grandchildren Jessica (Dylan) Sacks and Amanda Gaboriault; four sisters: Nina (Arnold) Davis, Mary Robbins, Jane Reuf, and Grace (Dale) Sawyer; brother: Richard (Roselle) Womer; brothers-in-law: Richard Moore, William Moore; along with many other relatives and friends. Mabel was enthusiastically involved in her community and spent many years volunteering her time to Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts of Troop 67 and the Town of Catlin Historical Society. She was also an avid community baker. She was awarded Senior Citizen of the Year in 2012 along with her husband Leo Gaboriault for their dedicated service to improve the lives of individuals and families in Chemung County. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Per Mabel’s wishes, there will not be a formal funeral service. Her family will host a celebration of life in the summer, additional details to follow.
