Obituary of William F. Post

Age 85, passed away Sunday, September 18, 2022, at his home surrounded by family. William was born in Auburn, NY, a son of Nellie and William Post. He is predeceased by his wife of 55 years, Maura Post, and his sister, Barbara Comerinsky. William is survived by his brother, John Post and wife Gloria; his children Lorraine Champlin and husband Larry, Christopher Post and wife Linda, Richard Post and wife Tammy, and Michael Post; grandchildren Sean Wilkins, Jamie Post and husband Benjamin Dieude-Fauvel, Jeremy Post, Michael Dove, Jordan Gerbasi, Brandi Oglesby, and Kevin Oglesby and wife Scessalie; great grandchildren Shyler Gerbasi and Ryan Dieude-Fauvel; and close friend and devoted caretaker, Heather Wiggins. William served honorably in the United States Coast Guard, and following his service, he was employed by the New York State Department of Corrections for 25 years until his retirement from Elmira Correctional Facility with the rank of Lieutenant. William was a kind and generous husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He loved to fish and play the ponies. William had an inquisitive mind and adventurous spirit – always championing those searching for the answers to life's great mysteries. Family and friends are invited to visit Barber Funeral Home, 413 S Main St., Horseheads, on Friday, September 23, 2022, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. A memorial presentation by the Chemung County Corrections Officers will follow with Bill's funeral service following at 1p.m. Committal interment with military honors.
