Joyce B. Whitman

Age 85 of Horseheads, NY. Joyce was born November 30, 1936 in Elmira, NY, daughter of the late Glen and Vivian (Slingerland) Borgeson. She married Arthur Whitman. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 55 years, Arthur Whitman in 2013; her son David; as well as brothers in law Richard and Edward "Bud" Whitman.

She is survived by her son Donald (Laurie) Whitman of Glen Allen, VA; daughter in law Karen Whitman of Horseheads, NY; grandchildren Kyle and Bryce Whitman of Glen Allen, VA, and Wilder and Jemma Whitman of Horseheads, NY; along with several dear nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

Joyce and Arthur were longtime members of the Hillcrest Baptist Church, in Elmira, where Joyce sang in the choir. She was a graduate of Southside High School and worked most of her career with the Social Security Administration in Elmira. Joyce is remembered by all whose lives she touched; a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate her funeral service at Barber Funeral Home, 413 S. Main St., in Horseheads on Saturday, November 5th 2022 at 12pm. Committal and interment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, 715 West Broad Street, Horseheads, NY.
