David Hulslander Age 86. Born in Sayre, PA, September 2, 1936, to Richard and Lillian (Deubler) Hulslander and passed away on November 14, 2022 at Elcor Nursing Home. Dave attended public schools in Elmira, Elmira Heights, and Cleveland, also taking courses at Cornell U. and Baltimore City College. Dace proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, and upon discharge was a State Trooper in Virginia for a time. A career in Loss Prevention followed, both for the Grand Union Company and primarily with Weis Markets in Sunbury, PA, where he had major regional responsibilities. Dave rounded out his work life as a Site Commander with Burns Security Services at Cutler-Hammer and Westinghouse in Horseheads, retiring in 1998. In retirement Dave and Nancy enjoyed a number of bus trips together as well as ensuing friendships that resulted. Dave was a Past Exalted Ruler of the Sunbury Elks, Past President of the American Legion in Sunbury, and a Life Member of both organizations. He was a member, Elder and Treasurer of the First Presbyterian Church of Horseheads. He was an active volunteer for the American Red Cross, Corning LPGA, and the Bath VA. Left behind are loving wife of 26+ years Nancy; daughter Tammy (James) Badman; grandson Nathan Badman (Angela); great-granddaughter Rowyn, and great-grandson Maxon. In addition to his parents Dave was predeceased by his grandson Brandon Badman, sister Barbara Murphy, and brother Carl Watkins along with Carl's wife Jan. Dave was upstanding and hard-working, fiercely devoted to his family, a loyal friend to many, and very generous with his time and resources. Quoting him, he 'loved his country and friendship and tennis. He considered himself very lucky for never having a job he didn't like…" Our family is grateful for the care Dave received at Elcor's Maple Creek. No flowers, please. A donation to The Brandon Badman Scholarship Fund (address available upon request), First Presbyterian Church of Horseheads, or a charity of one's choice would be appropriate. A memorial service with military honors will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 26, 2022, at the chapel of First Presbyterian Church of Horseheads, 2943 Westinghouse Rd, Horseheads, NY 14845.
