Obituary of Harold G. Wickham
WICKHAM, Harold G. "Wick"
Age 93 of Appleridge in Bethany Village, Horseheads and formerly of Co. Rt. 64 in Big Flats passed away at home Feb. 6, 2010. Harold was born Dec. 7, 1916 in Elmira, NY, the son to Charles and Maude Wickham. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Ernestine (Rodabaugh) Wickham; Sons, Robert (Ronda) Wickham of Barrington, NH, and Michael (Barbara) Wickham of Palm Coast, FL; Grandchildren, Devon (Stuart) Strickland of Reddick, FL, Michael Wickham of Kalispell, MT, and Lindsay Wickham of Gulfport, FL. Also predeceased were his sisters Alice and Helen, and brother Ward. Boy Scouts was a large part of Harold's young life and he went on to become a veteran of the US Army Air Corps, serving during WWII as a doctor's assistant. After a career in trucking, he retired as a supervisor for Yellow Freight in Elmira Heights in 1985. Harold was a member of the Halstead Baptist Church in Halstead, PA. During retirement, he worked part time at Enterprise Rent-a-Car in Horseheads, was an active member of the American Legion, Soaring Eagles Golf Club and Horseheads Nautilus Club. Harold loved golf, fishing, traveling and, most of all, spending time with his family. Family and friends are invited to call at the Barber Funeral Home 413 S. Main St. Horseheads on Friday Feb. 12, 2010 from 3-4:00 pm where his service will follow there at the funeral home at 4:00 pm. His interment will take place privately at the convenience of his family.
