Obituary of Blaine Eden Overacker

OVERACKER, Blaine Eden Age 69 of Middle Rd. Horseheads passed after a brief but courageous battle with cancer on Mon. Apr. 18, 2011 at home surrounded by his family. Blaine was born to the late William and Lillian (Gosline) Overacker. He is survived by his wife of nearly 48 years Sharon (Bower) Overacker; Son and daughter-in-law, Brett (Rosemary) Overacker of New Canaan, CT; Daughters and sons-in-law, Michelle (Sal) Cicconi of Horseheads, NY, Elaine (William) McGettrick of Horseheads, NY; grandchildren Brittany, Courtney, Shelby and Lily Overacker, Isabella and Lia Cicconi, Nicholas Pariso and Madison McGettrick; sister, Wendy Planavsky of North Tonawanda, NY; sister-in-law, Roxana Lewis of Horseheads, NY; nieces and nephews, Tracey Belsky, Jason Planavsky, Elizabeth Hausburg, Wayne Hausburg and many other extended family members and friends and K-9 buddy “fluffernutter”. Blaine was a retired electrician and member of the IBEW Local #139 since 1961. He was a member of the Town of Veteran Planning Board for over 10 years and has spent countless hours as a volunteer on the restoration of the Eldridge Park Carousel since the inception of the project. Blaine was a muscle car enthusiast having recently finished the restoration of a 1930 Ford Hot Rod. He was also the former president of Twin Tier Chapter of the Mustang Club of America. He loved his family; attending his grandchildren’s sporting events and took pride in their accomplishments. Family and friends are invited to call at the Barber Funeral Home 413 S. Main St. Horseheads Today Wed. April 20, 2011 from 4-7:00 pm. His service will follow calling hours at 7:00 pm. Graveside committal service will take place at the convenience of his family. Flowers are acceptable and those wishing may also remember Blaine with memorials to the Chemung Co. Humane Society and SPCA 2435 State Route 352, Elmira, NY 14903 or a charity of ones’ choice.
