Obituary of Ray W. Patrick

Ray Wright Patrick Age 90, went home to be with his Lord on Thursday, June 1, 2023 at Elcor Nursing Facility. Ray was born on October 28, 1932 in Decatur, Illinois, the 5th of 13 children born to Ira A. and Edythe Wright Patrick. Ray was educated in Illinois schools, then joined the U.S. Navy and served during the Korean Conflict. He married the former Gerry Sadler in Parkersburg, West Virginia on July 18, 1953. Ray is survived by his wife of 69 years, Gerry; daughters Rebekah (Mark) Scouten of Kissimmee, Florida and Joy (Brady) Wolcott of Bowie, Maryland; son David (Dee) Patrick of New Port Richey, Florida; and son-in-law Tim Castle of Smyrna, Tennessee. He is also survived by 2 brothers, 3 sisters, 14 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and friends. Besides his parents, Ray was predeceased by daughter, Debra Castle of Smyrna, Tennessee; 3 brothers and 4 sisters. Ray was employed by Corning, Inc. for 32 years, serving as a production supervisor in plants in Parkersburg, West Virginia, Blacksburg, Virginia and Big Flats, New York. After retirement, Ray served as Director of Lamoka Baptist Camp for 10 years. He and Gerry also traveled and did volunteer work with the Sowers Ministry and Baptist Missionary Builders. Ray loved watching his grandchildren play at their sporting events and especially loved getting together with family for holidays and special occasions. Family and friends are invited to visit the Barber Funeral Home, 413 S. Main St., in Horseheads, on Friday June 9th 2023 from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm. Ray's funeral service, celebrating his faith and life, will be held there at 12:30 pm. Committal and interment will follow with military honors held in Rural Home Cemetery, Big Flats, NY.
