Obituary of John P. Wren

WREN, John P. Age 69 of Halderman Hollow Rd. Passed away unexpectedly on Apr. 26, 2011 at Corning Hospital. He was born Jan. 24, 1942 in Oneida, NY, a son to Patrick and Loretta (Gilbert) Wren. John is survived by his wife of 47 years, Donna (Barlow) Wren; Daughter, Lisa Pruden of Painted Post, NY; Son, Thomas (Christina) Wren of Beaver Dams, NY; Grandchildren, Amanda Matkosky and Justin Pruden; Great grandchild, Maddox Mahoney; Brothers and sisters, Patricia (Duane) Burgdoff of China Grove, NC, Catherine (Donald) Wittman of Westmoreland, NY; Brother-in-law, Gary (Linda) Barlow of Earlville, NY; Sister-in-law, Nancy Elberson of Oneida, NY; and several nieces and nephews. John was a manager at UPS for 15 years. For the last 25 years, John and his son have been owners and operators of the former John’s Auto and Truck repair now Wren’s Auto Center in Big Flats, NY. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and landscaping, trips to Colorado with his son, and time spent with his family. He was a veteran of the US Navy and locally a 26 year member of the Big Flats American Legion. Family and friends are invited to call at the Barber Funeral Home, 413 S. Main St. Horseheads on Friday, Apr. 29, 2011 from 2-4:00 and 6-8:00 pm. His service officiated by the Rev. Bern Lytle will be celebrated in the funeral home on Sat., April 30, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. where military honors will also be accorded at the conclusion of his service.
