Obituary of Robert Schrom Jr.

Robert Schrom Jr. "Butch" Age 61, of Elmira, NY was born July 2, 1962 in Batavia, NY. Son of the late Robert Schrom Sr. and Frances Morgan. He is survived by his son Craig J. Schrom; sisters Theresa, and Kathleen Schrom; nephew Joseph Schrom; special friend Elaine Whitfield; several cousins, and aunts Sr. Janice Morgan, SSJ, and Janice (Bill) Grenier. He graduated from Horseheads in 1980. Throughout his life Butch enjoyed hunting, fishing, outdoor life in general, and spending time with family. He spent most of his life in Chemung County. He unexpectedly passed away after a short battle with lymphoma and died at Strong Memorial Hospital while undergoing his first chemotherapy treatment. Our thanks go out to the staff at Wilmont Cancer Center and to the Critical Care Unit at Strong Memorial for their loving and compassionate care during his last days. Family and friends are invited to gather at Barber Funeral Home, 413 S. Main St., in Horseheads, on Friday September 22nd 2023 from 4 pm to 7 pm. His Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary Our Mother Catholic Church, 816 W. Broad St., in Horseheads on Saturday, September 23rd 2023 at 10 am. Committal prayers and interment will follow in St. Mary Our Mother Cemetery, Horseheads. Those wishing may make donations in Robert's name to the Artic League at 249 W. Clinton St, Elmira, NY 14901, any of our local mental health foundations, or a charity of your choice to better the lives of those in need.
