Obituary of William L. Brewer

William L. Brewer Age 89 of Elmira died peacefully at home on Wednesday, November 1, 2023. He was born August 12, 1934 to the late Audley and Helen (Pease) Brewer. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sisters Mary Lou Talley, Joyce Wasson and Nancy Pierce. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Janice; daughter Diane (Douglas) Lage; granddaughter Emily Tombs; son William D. Brewer; sister Linda (Steve) McGunnigle; brother Robert (Mary Ann) Brewer along with several nieces and nephews. Bill graduated from TAE in Elmira Heights in 1953. After graduation he worked with his father on Brewer's Dairy Farm. In addition to working on the dairy farm, he was the milkman and delivered milk throughout the area for 26 years. He attended Elmira College where he got his real estate license, but during the Carter era, this wasn't a profitable business. He owned and operated the Brewery, better known as Riopko's for 15 years before selling the business and retiring. Bill was known for his wit and his smile. Family and friends are invited to visit Barber Funeral Home, 413 S. Main St., Horseheads on Saturday, November 11th from 12 to 2 pm. His memorial service will follow at 2 pm. No flowers please.
