Obituary of Keith Edward Hayes

HAYES, Keith Edward, Age 57, of Lamoka Lake, passed away unexpectedly on Apr. 28, 2011. He was born Feb. 3, 1954 in Elmira, NY, son to Melvin and Marjorie Hayes of Horseheads, NY. Keith is survived by Lisa Hayes and two sons Grayson (20) and Jordan (17) of Elmira Heights, NY and loving life partner Cindy Monroe and her family David (20) and Molly (18) all of Lamoka Lake; surviving siblings, Bonnie (Charles) Breines of Baco Raton, FL; Dennis (Kimberly) of Waneta Lake, Judy (Jerry) Eddy of Corning, Chester (Karen) Hayes of Horseheads; Sheldon (Cindy) Hayes of Kayutah Lake; Brian Hayes of Breesport, David (Abby) Hayes of Lamoka Lake and Daniel (Judi) Hayes of Horseheads; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Keith was a graduate of Horseheads High School class of 1972 Keith was the owner of the Post-Creek Market, Beaver Dams and previous co-owner of the Elmira Business Machines. In addition to being an independent business man, he was an outstanding father who taught by example and patience. He inspired all who knew him. Keith particularly enjoyed spending time with his sons, family and friends; the home he built on the lake, where he laughed, loved, snowmobiled and skied. He liked to end a day with an evening campfire. He will be greatly missed. Family and friends are invited to call at the Barber Funeral Home, 413 S. Main St., Horseheads on Monday May 2, 2011, from 5-8:00 pm. His service will take place privately at the convenience of his family.
