Dr. Walter James Personius Sr "Pop Pop" 11-7-44 – 11-23-23

A man of many talents and interests, Walter was accomplished as a physician, teacher, and mentor. He had a love for music which he shared throughout his life, singing, and playing in many choirs and other groups. Active in the church as well as other community groups, Walt sought to improve and preserve his community and the natural world as well. Walt's family was his most cherished part of his life. He is survived by his wife Susan, children Walter "Jay," Alex, and Elizabeth "Beth" Valasko as well as 8 grandchildren. He was predeceased by his son John Bennett. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent in his memory to the Cantata Singers, PO Box 952, Elmira, NY 14902. Family and friends are invited to visit the Barber Funeral Home, 413 S. Main Street, in Horseheads, on Saturday, December 2nd from 12-1pm. A memorial service will be held at 1pm with Pastor Gary Brinn officiating. Committal and interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Elmira, NY.
