Obituary of Charles Bernard Nalbach
Charles B. "Chuck" Nalbach,
Age 83, passed away on Monday, November 27, 2023 at Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, PA. Chuck was born December 10, 1939 in Alden, NY, son of the late Joseph and Ruth Nalbach. He was predeceased in 2020 by his wife of over 55 years, Madelyn "Lyn" Nalbach. Chuck is survived by children Jeff Nalbach (Betsy), Steve Nalbach (Elizabeth), Cheryl Nalbach, and Charles E. Nalbach (Heather Riddle); and four grandchildren: Tyler, Nicholas (Kristin), Joshua, and Nathan. Also survived by brothers and sisters-in-law James and Linda Nalbach and Joe and Sharon Nalbach. Chuck grew up in Corfu, NY and graduated from Notre Dame High School, Batavia, NY, in 1957. Subsequently, he graduated from Erie County Technical Institute in Buffalo, NY and began a life-long career as a construction superintendent and project manager. In 1978, Chuck and his family moved from Clarence, NY to Horseheads, NY and Chuck oversaw the construction of the W.C. Decker Engineering Building for Corning Glass Works. Throughout his career, Chuck worked for various construction firms, including J.W. Cowper Inc., Morse Diesel International, LeCesse Development Corp., and LeChase Construction Services, LLC. His last project prior to retiring was for Corning, Inc: The Knoll. In addition to his professional career, Chuck served for many years as a volunteer firefighter. Chuck loved spending time at home with his family; sports – NASCAR, baseball, golf, and especially the Buffalo Bills; many friends, most notably his neighbors on Stonybrook Road; and keeping up with his grandchildren's numerous achievements. Chuck was known by many to have a calm, confident presence and an unforgettable, quick-witted sense of humor - which those who knew him may remember most! Chuck was a parishioner of St. Mary Our Mother Church in Horseheads, NY. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary Our Mother Church, 816 W. Broad St., Horseheads, on December 29, 2023 at 10 AM. Commital prayers and interment will follow in St. Mary Our Mother Cemetery, where Chuck will be laid to rest with Lyn. Those wishing may make a memorial contribution to the charity of their choice in Chuck's name.
