Thomas Kargacin Obituary
Thomas Kargacin, 83, of Horseheads, passed away peacefully at home with his loving wife of forty-six years, Catherine, at his side.
Besides Cathy, Tom is survived by his brother Kevin (Ava) Kargacin of Fairfax, VA; sister-in-law Anne (Chuck) Swift of Erin, NY; brothers-in-law Arthur (Donalda) Viens of Pansey, AL and Paul (Lisa) Viens of Morrisville, NC; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, one great-great-niece and cousins.
Tom had a great love of his country and was both in the Air Force and Army. He retired as a master sergeant from the U.S. Army after a cumulative total of 26 years of service.
Although Tom battled Alzheimer's for 12 years, to the end he always had that mischievous gleam in his eyes whenever he talked about his shenanigans with his childhood friends growing up in Anaconda, MT.
A graveside service with military honors will be will be held at Maple Grove Cemetery, Horseheads, and announced in the spring.
Those wishing may honor Tom with a donation to the Alzheimer's Association, Gary Sines Foundation, or Wounded Warrior Project.
