Obituary of Keith Herbert Williams

Keith Herbert Williams Keith Herbert Williams was born in the family farmhouse in Newfield, NY to Harvey Orson Williams and Ruby Tribe Williams. He graduated from Newfield Central School in 1951, Cobleskill Agricultural College in 1954, and served honorably in the US Army 82nd Airborne Division from 1954-1956. On November 26th 1955, he married Barbara Jane Shively of Horseheads, NY. Keith raised his family in Newfield, where he was an active member of the community. He was a member of the Newfield United Methodist Church, Newfield King Hiram Masonic Lodge #784 F&AM; he was an Eagle Chapter Royal Arch Mason. Keith served as Vice President of the NCS School Board, coached Kiwanis baseball, and was a Leader in Cub Scouts. He was a loving family man, and rarely missed a game, match, meet, concert, play, or any activity involving one of his four children. Keith was a very kind and social person who made friends easily and was always eager to get involved and help others. Throughout his life Keith valued faith, family, friends, hard work, service, and nature. After a 32-year career with NY Telephone/ AT&T/ Lucent Technologies, he and Barbara retired to Caribbean Isles Park in Apollo Beach Florida from 1988-2022, where he served as the first President of the Carribean Isles Co-op, as well as Starter at the golf course. He most recently resided at Bethany Manor in Horseheads, NY. Keith loved spending time with his family and extended family, golfing at Hill and Dale Golf Club, bowling at Ides Bowlodrome on the Masonic Team, deer hunting from the family camp on Benjamin Hill, reading Louis La'Moure Westerns, and watching sports – especially the Bills and Orange. Keith was predeceased by his five brothers, Russell, Jake, Lyle, Mike & Donald; and his son Kevin (1984). He is survived by his wife of 69 years Barbara; daughters Kim (Chuck) Kassel of Mastic Beach, NY, and Kathie Williams of Newfield, NY; son Kyle (Marnie) Williams of Cobleskill, NY; along with his grandchildren Charlie, Alex, Jon, Nicole, Brittany, Nate, Zach, and Matt; and 6 great grandchildren. There will be a private Masonic Service held; Keith will be laid to rest at Woodlawn Cemetery in Newfield. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Keith's memory to the American Heart Association or the Wounded Warrior Project.
