Charles F. Canedy

Age 90 of Madison, AL, formerly of Horseheads/Big Flats, NY. He was born in 1933 in Corning, NY, son of the late Erastus and Emily (Wilson) Canedy, and went to be with the Lord May 23, 2024. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 66 years, Norma J. (Payne) Canedy on May 30, 2023. He is survived by his son David (Nancy) Canedy of Athens, AL; daughter Kim (Joel) McDowell of Birmingham, AL; brother Ed (Annette) Canedy; sisters-in-law Joan Sweitzer and Beth (David) Sherwood of Largo, FL along with several nieces and nephews; grandchildren Amy (Theon) Hill, Jennifer (Ben) Gregory, Joshua (Megan) Canedy, Emily Canedy, Payne McDowell, Chadwick McDowell, Trent McDowell; great grandchildren Michael McDowell, Theon Hill, Jr., Mia Hill, Ellison Hill, Chayleigh Canedy. Known as a consistent, diligent, hardworking, faithful, godly man of integrity Mr. Canedy (along with his father) each worked for Corning Glass Works for over 40 years and was a longtime member of Hillcrest Baptist Church, Elmira, NY and Starkey Road Baptist Church, Seminole, FL. Among other wonderful qualities, he was an example to us all as a Christian, a family man, a church man, and a company man. Family and friends are invited to visit at Hillcrest Baptist Church 115 West Hill Road, Elmira, NY 14903 on Tuesday, June 18th from 10 to 11 am. There will be a private family viewing from 9 to 10 am. His funeral service will be held there at 11 am. A committal service will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Painted Post.
