Obituary of Edward C Oksinski
Edward Charles Oksinski, Age 85, of Horseheads. NY passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with cancer. Edward was born June 6, 1939 in Elmira, New York. He was the son of the late Edward Oksinski and Margaret (Sickinger) Oksinski of Elmira.
Edward was a 1957 graduate of Elmira Free Academy. He retired from the New York State Department of Corrections after 40 years of service in 2001. Above all else, Ed was a devoted father and loving husband. He was married to Louise (Margeit) Oksinski for 64 years. In his free time, Ed enjoyed hunting, fishing, and tournament
archery. He most enjoyed following his grandchildren's sporting and school events.
He was predeceased by his sister Dolores Pariso; niece Pamela Ogle; brother and sister in laws Betty and Hank Margeit, and Marie and Jim Addabbo.
He is survived by two sons and daughter-in laws Edward (Wendy) Oksinski of Horseheads, NY, and Mark (Marisa) Oksinski of Bath, NY; as well as daughter Lori Gustinis of Monroe, CT. Ed adored his six grandchildren, Dr. Ryan Oksinski of Saratoga Springs, NY, Connor (Emily) Oksinski of Horseheads, NY, Grace Gustinis of Boca Raton, FL, Sergeant Emma (Nomar) Rivera-Gustinis of Fort Johnson, LA, Gillian Oksinski of Bath, NY, and Sophie Gustinis of Monroe, CT. He is also survived by his niece Karen Varnum of Buchanan, TN.
The family would like to thank Amy Flaherty, Hannah Foster, Tori Saltsman of Compassionate Lamb and Nate Stranges for providing support and care to Ed and the family during this difficult time.
Family and friends are invited to visit the Barber Funeral Home, 413 S. Main St. in Horseheads, on Thursday, June 27th 2024 from 6 pm to 8 pm. His Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 am on Friday, June 28th 2024 at St. Mary Our Mother Church, 816 W. Broad St. in Horseheads. Committal prayers and internment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery. Donations in his memory can be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
