It is with heavy hearts that the family of Eugene Elston announces his peaceful passing on the 21st of August, 2024 in Hornell, NY. Born the 25th of January, 1947, Eugene lived a full life marked by devotion to his country, family, and the simple pleasures of nature.

Eugene’s commitment to service was exemplified by his tenure in the United States Army from 1970 to 1973. His post-military career at Beaver’s Petroleum was characterized by loyalty and a steadfast work ethic.

A proud graduate of the Elmira School District, Eugene’s roots ran deep within the community. An avid fisherman and hunter, he found tranquility in the wilderness, and imparted the love of these pursuits to his family and friends.

At the core of Eugene’s life was his family.

He is survived by his wife Linda Elston, whit whom he shared 54 years of marriage; his son Adam Elston; Daughter Jennifer (Thomas) Harding; and his cherished granddaughters Delaney, Delylah, Daylynn, and Danyka Harding. He will be fondly remembered by his brothers David (Louise) Elston, and Mark (Judy) Elston, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and many dear friends. Eugene was predeceased by his parents Fred and Pauline Elston, and his brother Edward Elston.
