Cecelia Miller

Obituary of Cecelia A. Miller

Cecelia Ann Miller, "Ceil", passed away unexpectedly after a brief battle with a sudden illness. Ceil, a resident of Burdett, NY, is survived by her husband of nearly 57 years, Creighton "CJ" Miller. After meeting in their original hometown of Callicoon, NY, they experienced many adventures, travels and a lifetime of love together. Living in Texas, Indiana and New York they settled in the Finger Lakes area and enjoyed Seneca Lake together, including watching sunsets for the last 25 years from the Eastern shore. Ceil is also survived by her son, Brian, daughter in law, Stephanie and their 3 daughters, Caysie (partner Emory), Ella and Keira. Her great pride in her family was a cornerstone in her life and she loved seeing them grow and become the amazing individuals they have grown to be. She never missed a concert, activity and award ceremony for her grandchildren. Ceil worked hard throughout her career in healthcare, starting as a medical technologist and retiring as the Administrative Director for Laboratory Services. Her career spanned years at Arnot Ogden Medical Center, Corning Hospital and the Guthrie Healthcare System, where she made lifelong connections and friends. Dedicated and passionate toward the success of her organization and goals, she was a force in any situation. Ceil, daughter of Ray and Reta (McCarthy) Graby, was sister to Vivian Greene (Roger Ebert) and predeceased by her brother William "Bill" Graby (Marie). Her nieces and nephews- Brent (Melissa) Mauer, Craig (Rachel) Mauer, Marissa Graby, Nicholas (Jennifer) Graby, Katrina (Gabe) LaGrutta and their many children. Her fondest memories surrounded extended family gatherings during Christmas and especially, at Seneca Lake for the annual Graby family weekend. Thousands of laughs, images and memories will live on in our hearts from these times together, times that were so much a part of who Ceil was to her family. After retirement, Ceil made many great friends between her club activities- Book and Mahjong clubs. She looked forward to their weekly get togethers and close connections. Ceil meant so much to her family and friends, none of us can imagine life without her. A celebration of life will be held at a later date, there are no planned funeral services at this time. In lieu of flowers, donations would be welcome to help support Susan G Komen Breast Cancer Foundation and/or the Finger Lakes SPCA.
