Obituary of Diana Kate Eggers
EGGERS, Diana Kate
Age 66 of Elmira who loved cats, reading, and talking on the phone with her friends, was born in Endicott, NY on July 30, 1945 to Theodore and Edna Eggers. She died August 3, 2011 at Wilson Hospital, Johnson City, NY, after a long and well fought battle of almost fifteen years with cancer of one type or another. Her attitude was always positive toward herself which undoubtedly added to her strength in dealing with this disease.
Having graduated from Horseheads High Class of 1963, she earned a Bachelor of Science in Zoology, 1971, U. of Michigan and completed the course requirements for a Master of Science in Immunology, 1985, Cornell University.
She held various positions from Arizona to New York from clerical to lab tech during her varied working career.
She was married for a few years to Arno Spatola. They had no children.
Diana was predeceased by her parents, brother, Nelson and sister, Audrey. Survived by her brother, Edward (Katherine) of Lowman; sisters, Carolyn (Herb) and Eileen (Andy); as well as several Aunts, Uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews on both the Eggers and Lange side of the family.
A memorial service will be held at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, 2872 Westinghouse Rd., Horseheads, NY on August 13, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, Horseheads, NY.
