Obituary of Richard J. Buchanan

BUCHANAN, Richard J. “Dick” Age 71 of Riverview FL passed away unexpectedly on Sunday Oct. 23, 2011. He was born Jan 10, 1940 in Elmira, NY. He is survived by his loving wife Verna (Austin) Buchanan; Daughter, Ida (Loren Bailey) Buchanan of Beaver Dams, NY with their children, Allen and Shannon Son, R. J. (Laura) Buchanan of Riverview, FL with their daughter Chase; Mother, Mae Buchanan of Erin, NY; Sisters, Darlene (Ken) Swartwood of Pine Valley Shirley (Ray) Urbaniak of Elmira, NY, Brother, Charles Bryan of Texas and several nieces and nephews. Dick was predeceased by his father George Buchanan in 1999 and daughter, Irene Buchanan in 1974. Dick was raised in Erin and while in Florida was employed as a finisher with Edwards Manufacturing in Tampa. He loved racing, fishing, hunting and collecting scrap metal and especially Dick loved his family and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it. Family and friends are invited to call at the Barber Funeral Home 413 S. Main St. Horseheads on Sunday Oct. 30, 2011 from 1-4:00 pm. His service will be celebrated in the funeral home on Monday at 10:00 am with committal service to follow in Scotchtown Cemetery in Erin.
