Obituary of Madeline M. Matejka

MATEJKA, Madeline M. Age 88 and formerly of Marsh Rd. Erin, passed away after a long illness on Jan., 29, 2012. Madeline was born in Elmira Nov. 4, 1923 to Benjamin Connelly and Laura (Jessup) Alexander. She was predeceased by her husband, John Matejka Jr. in 1994. Her surviving family includes her sons and daughters-in-law, Paul (Mary Ann) Matejka of Bellingham, MA, Roger (Tina) Matejka of Erin, NY, Timothy (Susan) Matejka of Erin, NY 9 Grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren, Sisters, Barbara Mousaw, Donna Middaugh, and Janette Long; Brother, Jack (Kitty) Connelley Sisters-in-law, Ruth Granville and Helen Matejka both of Erin, Irene Watson of Towanda and Mary Ellen Connelly of Elmira; Brother-in-law, Harry Miller of Horseheads. Madeline was a devoted wife mother and grandmother. She was a longtime member of Erin United Methodist Church and member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Erin Vol. Fire Department. Family and friends are invited to call at the Barber Funeral home 413 S. Main St. Horseheads on Thursday Feb 2, 2012 from 1-2:30 pm Her service will be celebrated in the funeral home at the conclusion of calling hours at 2:30 pm Burial service will follow in Scotchtown Cemetery in Erin.
