Obituary of Francis H. Smith
SMITH, Francis H.
Age 90 of Watkins Rd, and formerly a longtime resident of E. Franklin St., Horseheads, passed away May 1, 2012.
He was born Feb. 4, 1922 in Union Township PA to T. Edward and Agnes (Wilcox) Smith. He was predeceased by his wife Helen J. (Theetge) Smith on Mar. 11, 2010. His surviving family includes his
Son and daughter-in-law, Milford and Ann Doland of Wellsburg, NY; grandchildren, Carol Doland of Wellsburg, NY and Darlene (Robert) Sowers of Pine City, NY; great-grandchildren, Tristan Stoughton, Jamee (Josiah) Skinkle, Cody Stoughton; and great great-grandson, Aaron Lee Skinkle;
Sister, Mildred Miller of Grand Island, NE. He was also predeceased by his sister, Dorothy Swatsworth. Francis is also survived by his sisters-in-law,
Rosalie Vondracek of Cayuta, NY, and Marian Morgan of Prior Lake, MN; brother-in-law, John (Eleanor) Theetge of Horseheads, NY; brother-in-law, Warren Austin of Sidney, NY.
Francis was also predeceased by a granddaughter, Janet Stoughton and sister-in-law, Elizabeth Austin and brother-in-law, Harold Theetge.
Fran was retired from the Elmira Star Gazette where he was a circulation supervisor there.
He was also a member of Christian Faith Fellowship on the South Side and a past member of the Order of Eastern Star as well as a former Mason and past Master.
Family and friends are invited to call at the Barber Funeral Home, 413 South Main Street, Horseheads on Sat. May 5, 2012 from 12:00 noon – 2:00 pm where his service will follow at the conclusion of calling hours at 2:00 pm with his pastor the Rev. James Crupi officiating
Interment will take place at the convenience of his family in Woodlawn Cemetery in Elmira.
