Obituary of Richard D. Austin

Austin, Richard D. "Dick" Age 60, of Millport, NY, joined his Lord to forever ride in heaven after a strong and courageous battle with cancer on July 6, 2012. He was predeceased by his father, Frank Austin; stepfather, William Kemmerer; and his riding "partner", Kenneth "Stub" Fitzgerald. Surviving him, to keep his memory alive, are his loving mother, Marleah Austin Kemmerer; devoted wife, Nancy Austin; daughters, Tracey (Shawn) Whitney, Jamie (Greg) Gerould, Stefanie (Brian) Erway, Erica (Peter) Lee; and son, Barry (Amy) Scott; his sisters, Dorothy Kurta and Patricia (Alan) Tobey; and brothers, Eugene (Dawn) Austin, William Austin, and David Austin. He is also survived by his grandchildren who he loved beyond words. Papa will always be their "brick-house". Richard was a hard-working, Harley-loving, big-hearted man who had so many close friends and family that can't possibly all be named. He earned respect and gave it in return. He will be missed and always loved by so many. In lieu of services, "Dick's Last Ride" will be on July 22, 2012 departing from Hickory House in Pine Valley at 11:00 a.m. Riders please arrive by 10:00 a.m. rain or shine. We will return there at 4:00 p.m. for a celebration of Richard's life. All friends and family are welcome to attend. In lieu of flowers, Richard's wish was for donations, to be made in his honor to Southern Tier Hospice, 11751 East Corning Road, Corning, NY 14830 or the Falck Cancer Center, C/0 AOMC, 600 Roe Ave., Elmira, NY 14905.
