Obituary of Kenneth E. Wetherbee

WETHERBEE, Kenneth E. Age 89 of Arkport, NY and formerly a longtime resident of S. Main St., in Horseheads passed away Tuesday, November 6, 2012 at Nicholas Noyes Memorial Hospital in Dansville, NY. Ken was born in Wellsboro, PA to the late Hugh and Ruth (Marmor) Wetherbee. He was predeceased by his wife, Letha (Foulk) Wetherbee in 1999. Ken is survived by his daughter and sons, Christine (Randy Jr.) Dieter of Arkport, NY, Edward Wetherbee of Colorado Springs, CO, and Gary (Lynn) Wetherbee of Milton, FL; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; brother, Wilmon Wetherbee of Wellsboro, PA; sisters-in-law, Eleanor Wetherbee of Mansfield, PA, Naomi Wetherbee and Marjorie Wetherbee of Wellsboro, PA; Daughter-in-law, Candice Wetherbee of Dansville, NY He was also predeceased by his son, John Wetherbee; brothers, Walter, Wilber, Elbert, Llewelyn and Gordon, Wetherbee; sisters-in-law, Ilene Wetherbee and Arlene Wetherbee. Ken was retired from the Maintenance Department of the Horseheads Central School District. He and his wife were devoted members of Elmwood Baptist Church where Ken was also their custodian and all around general fix-it- man. He was also a member of Horseheads Old Oak Lodge #364 F. & AM. One of Ken’s favorite hobbies was gardening. He took pride in selling what he grew at his produce stand. Family and friends are invited to call at the Barber Funeral Home, 413 S. Main St., Horseheads, NY on Monday, November 12, 2012 from 4-6pm. His funeral service will take place in Elmwood Baptist Church, 230 Elmwood Ave., Elmira Heights, NY 14903 on Tuesday, November 13, 2012 at 10 am. with the Rev. David Sullivan officiating.
