Robert E. Porter
Age 73, recently of Watkins Road and formerly of Bannister Road and Overlook Drive, Horseheads passed away after an illness on Tuesday, October 30, 2012 at the Bath VA Medical Center. Bob was born in Canton, PA to the late Rozell and Trula (Bolt) Porter. He is survived by his daughter and son, Kelly (Joe) Gasienski of Horseheads, NY, Chris (Debbie) Porter of Claremont, FL; grandchildren, Brianna and Tyler Porter; companion, Anna Mitchell of Breesport, NY; brothers, Richard Porter of Canton, PA and Bill Porter of Deland, FL; sister, Phyllis Allen of Lebanon, PA and sister in–law, Shirley Porter. He was predeceased by his brother, Harold. Bob was a veteran of the US Air force and US Army Reserves. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Elmira Heights America Legion, US Air Force Association and National Aviation Association. Bob attended Burnside Aviation Training School in Florida and remained active in civilian aviation throughout his life. Bob was also retired from the Sales Department in the Automotive Center at Sears. Family and friends are invited to attend his memorial service to take place on Friday, November 2, 2012 at 12:00 noon in the First United Methodist Church, 1034 West Broad Street, Horseheads, NY 14845. Burial will take place in Woodlawn National Cemetery.
