Obituary of Robert J. Gush

Robert J. Gush Age 73 of Big Flats and formerly of Franklin Street in Horseheads passed away after a brief illness on Thursday, April 4, 2013. Bob was born August 1, 1939 in Elmira to the late Frank and Helen (Zuris) Gush. He was predeceased by his first wife, Sandra Gush in 1994 and his sister, Marion Clark. His surviving family includes his wife, Debra (Gillis) Gush; daughter, Amy Gush of Corning, NY; son, Jeffrey (Kerry) Gush of Horseheads, NY; stepdaughter, Courtney (Sam) Danna of Horseheads, NY; grandchildren, Jordan, Kayla Shelby Gush; Jackson and Drake Danna; sister, Patricia Flannigan and brother, Frank Gush. Bob was a graduate of Elmira College and a retired Zone Sergeant in the Horseheads Barracks of the NY State Police. Through his retirement he was also the Town of Big Flats Judge for the last eight years. He was a fixture at the Corning LPGA and proud of being a longtime caddy master there for many years. He also received Volunteer of the Year at the LPGA. Bob was also a member of the American Trooper Association. He was also a active coach for Horseheads Little League and president of Babe Ruth Baseball for many years. He also enjoyed old cars and was proud owner of a 1960 Ford T-Bird. Family and friends are invited to call at the Barber Funeral Home, 413 South Main Street, on Sunday, April 7, 2013 from 1-3:00 and 5-7:00 pm. His service will take place there at the funeral home on Monday, April 8, 2013 at 10:00 am with burial service and military honors accorded in Maple Grove Cemetery in Horseheads.
