Obituary of Mildred A. Hollon

HOLLON, Mildred A. age 96 and formerly a longtime resident of South Carroll St. passed away on Mon, Mar. 22, 2010. She was born in Dushore, PA Feb. 9, 1914, a daughter to the late Archie Brown and Agnes Foote. She was predeceased by her husband, Jeremiah in 2001. She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Francis F. and Pamela Hollon of Troy, NY; Charles J. and Nancy Hollon of Carlisle, PA; grandchildren, Patricia Wurster, Debra Hollon, Janine, Jeremy and Joseph Hollon; sister, Loueva Edwards of Elmira Heights, NY, sister-in-law, Mary Bowen of Waverly, NY; and several nieces and nephews. Mildred was also predeceased by her sisters, Ethel Mills, Geraldine McKernan, Gladys Heller; brother, Archie Brown. She was a member of Horseheads First United Methodist Church and the Deborah Hannah Circle. Mildred was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and dedicated homemaker. She also worked at W. T. Grant Company in Horseheads. She was involved in Cub Scouts and was a member of the Ladies Home Bureau. Family and friends are invited to call at the Barber Funeral Home, 413 S. Main St., Horseheads on Monday, Mar. 29, 2010 from 10:30 a.m.-12:00 noon with her pastor the Rev. Dr, Robert O. Sherburne officiating. Interment to follow in Maple Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, those wishing may also remember Mildred with memorials to the Living Memorial Endowment Fund of the Horseheads First United Methodist Church, 1034 W. Broad St., Horseheads, NY 14845. A special thanks to the nurses and staff of the Chemung County Nursing Facility 2nd floor for their care and concern for Mildred.
