Obituary of David A. Whitman

David A. Whitman Age 52 of Clover Circle Horseheads passed away after an illness on Thursday, August 7, 2014. Dave was born on December 10, 1961, in Elmira, NY to Arthur and Joyce (Borgeson) Whitman. He was predeceased by his father in 2013 and is survived by his wife, Karen (Dibble) Whitman; his son and daughter, Wilder and Jemma Whitman; mother, Joyce Whitman; brother, Donald (Laurie) Whitman of Glen Allen, VA; mother-in-law, Bonnie Dibble; sister-in-law, Sara (Steve) Goodwin; an aunt, uncle; several cousins, nephews and a host of extended family and friends and K-9 pal Ella. Dave had been an employee of Sears Automotive at the Arnot Mall. He enjoyed fishing, playing guitar and shooting at the Chemung Rod and Gun Club where he was a member. Dave was also a devoted Buffalo Bills and NY Mets fan and loved listening to music. Above all else he was a devoted and caring father, husband, son and brother. Family and friends are invited to call at the Barber Funeral Home, Inc., 413 S. Main St., Horseheads on Monday, August 11, 2014, from 3-6:00 pm. His service will follow there at 6:00 pm. A celebration of life will be held at 250 Nice Drive immediately following the service. The family also requests that you bring a favorite memory or story about Dave to be shared with his children. Interment at the convenience of his family. In lieu of flowers, those wishing may remember Dave with memorials to establish a college fund for his children.
