Obituary of Edith M. Walton

Edith Mae Walton Age 93 and formerly a longtime resident of Arnold Avenue, Horseheads passed away Wednesday, August 13, 2014. Edith was born in Nanticoke, PA to John and Nellie Brown. She was predeceased by her husband of over 61 years, Henry F. Jr., “Hank” “Sonny” on May 13, 2001. She was also predeceased by her son, Ron Walton; special sister, Jennie Brown; and sons-in-law, Dutch Buchanan and Edward Howe. Edith is survived by her daughters, Sylvia (Dave) Starkweather of Erin, Sandra Howe of Elmira Heights, Brenda (Ken) Brenza of Horseheads; son, Roger (Bonnie) Walton of Elmira Heights; grandchildren, Jim Buchanan, Kim Buchanan, Tom (Michelle) Buchanan, all of Erin, Roger Jr. (Kim) Walton of Germany, Chris Walton of Horseheads, Brandon Walton of Elmira Heights, Alisha Walton of Clearwater, FL, Jason, Jessica, & Janelle Walton, Amber & Kristen Brenza all of Horseheads; great-grandchildren, Ashley, Amy & Arica Buchanan, Devon, Lily, Garrett and Mackenzie Walton Amanda & C.J. Buchanan, and Camryn Cheney; sisters-in-law, Doris Hall and Carolyn Walton; several nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by her siblings, John Brown, sisters, Marion Clemons, Irene Christian, and Hannah Passmore. Edith loved Bingo and an occasional gambling trip to Atlantic City. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her family, whom she loved dearly. Friends are invited to call at the Barber Funeral Home, Inc., 413 South Main Street, Horseheads on Monday, Aug. 18, 2014, from 2-4:00 and again from 6-8:00 pm. Her service will take place at the funeral home on Tuesday at 10:00am. Burial service will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery.
