Obituary of Dennis A. Matejka

MATEJKA, Dennis A. Age 65, of Greenbush Rd. in Erin, passed away Thursday evening, October 16, 2014. Dennis was born in Sayre, PA, on June 24, 1949 to Ira and Helen (Argetsinger) Matejka. He was predeceased by his father, Ira in 2004. His surviving family includes his mother, Helen Matejka of Erin; sisters, Linda (Bruce) Struzinsky also of Erin and Phyllis (Andrew) Stern of Rensselaer, NY; nieces and nephews, Shawn Struzinsky, Shannon (Ted) Hills, Jennifer Frisbie, Jean (Greg) Koski, Joshua Stern, and Sarah Stern; several grand nieces and nephews; and one great grand nephew; aunts and uncles, Irene Watson, Ruth Granville, Harry Miller, and Danny (Carol) Argetsinger, In addition to his father, he was also predeceased by numerous aunts and uncles. Dennis was a history buff. He had great joy on his tractor and taking care of the family farm. He especially enjoyed the time with his nieces and nephews and various adventures with Pat and Fred Howe; extra special care and attention by Danny and Carol Argetsinger Along with Dennis’ witty sense of humor, he also enjoyed the love of his mother’s cooking and working aside his father doing projects. Family and friends are invited to call at the Barber Funeral Home, 413 S. Main St. Horseheads on Mon. Oct. 20, 2014 from 2-4:00 pm. His service will follow at 4:00 pm. Burial in Scotchtown Cemetery in Erin.
