Obituary of Lyle G. Wheeler

Lyle G. Wheeler Age 77 of Laurel Hill Rd. in Erin passed away unexpectedly on October 18, 2014. He was born August 7, 1937, in Elmira to Harold and Lydia (Bixby) Wheeler. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Linda (Nichols) Wheeler; daughter and sons, Vicky (John) Bates, Mike (Pat) Wheeler, and Jeff (Terri Wheaton) Wheeler all of Erin, NY; grandchildren, Michael and Hannah Wheeler; sister, Elsie (Charlie) Carnes of Roaring Branch, PA; brothers, Richard (Charlotte) Jenkins of Pine City, NY and David (Barb) Jenkins also of Pine City. He was also predeceased by his siblings, Harold Terry, Bruce, and Derwin Wheeler. Lyle was a longtime driver for Chemung Supply in Elmira Heights. He was a hard working man always lending a hand. He drove a wrecker, raced at Chemung Speedway, enjoyed motorcycles, tractors and time with family. Family and friends are invited to call at the Barber Funeral Home, 413 S. Main St., Horseheads on Wednesday, October 22, 2014, from 3-4:00 pm. His service will follow there at the funeral home at 4:00 pm with the Rev. Gail Wilson officiating.
