Obituary of Santa C. Romagnoli

ROMAGNOLI, Santa C. Age 98 formerly of Portsmouth, NH went home to be with the Lord on Fri. Sept. 24, 2010. She was born in Cesenatico, Italy to Theresa (Brighi) and Guissippi Pirini on Mar. 27 1912. In 1919 the family came to Portsmouth, NH where she worked, married, raised a family and resided for 84 years. She moved to Horseheads, NY in 2003 to live with her daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Glenn Hunsinger, Sr. In 2006 she moved into the courtyards assisted living center at Bethany Village in Horseheads. In June 2010 she became a resident of the Arnot Ogden Nursing Facility in Elmira, NY where she passed away on Sept. 24, 2010. She was preceded in death by her husband, Pio Romagnoli, her brothers, Leto and Roy Pirini and recently her granddaughter Pamela Kisk of Corning, NY. She is survived by her daughter, Mary (Glenn) Hunsinger, Sr. of Horseheads and her son, Richard (Bertha) Ronagnoli of Fredericksburg, VA, a sister Deva MacDonald of Greenland, NH and a brother, Florido (Lucy) Pirini of Kittery, ME. She had 8 grandchildren , 17 great grandchildren, 8 great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Santa spent 26 happy years at the Maryerson Apartments on Middle St., Portsmouth, NH. Her hobbies were knitting and crocheting. She knitted for the RSVP both in Portsmouth, NH and Elmira, NY. She received many awards and recognitions from the Navy Relief Society at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard for knitting baby outfits and crib robes for military families. Family and friends are invited to call at the Farrell Funeral Home, 684 State St. Portsmouth, NH on Friday Oct. 8, 2010 from 4-7:00 pm a service will take place on Sat. Oct. 9, at 10:00 am with interment to follow in South Street Cemetery. family and friends are further invited to attend a memorial service in the Courtyards at Bethany Village 3005 Watkins Rd. Horseheads on Sunday Oct. 17, 2010 at 3:00 pm with the Rev. Mary Ann Bernard officiating.
