Obituary of Marcellus ""Ron"" Henry

HENRY, Marcellus “Ron” Age 70 of Breesport passed away the day after his wife Sandy on Sat. Jan 30, 2010. Ron was born Nov. 16, 1939 in Elmira NY. He was predeceased by his parents, Cell and Ruth (Perry) Henry; mothers-in-law, Harriet and Gertrude Brewer and his wife Sandy. Ron is also survived by his son, Erik Henry of Breesport, NY; daughter, Michelle (Michael) Jamison of Elmira Heights, NY; grandchildren, Christopher (Nicole) Jamison, Jessica (Brent) Stone and the “Apple of his Eye” Allena “the Kid” Jamison; Great-grandchildren, Brent Jr., Jaebreonna, Alexis and Kaden; father-in-law, Harland Brewer of Troy, PA; Brothers, Tom (Bonnie) Henry of Mishawaka, IN, Linn (Kathy) Henry of Burdett, NY; niece, Amanda (Paul) Henry of Manhattan, NY; step sisters, Marijane (Tim) Wade of Horseheads, NY, Jackie (Harlan) Press of Mosherville, PA, Nancy Denunzio of Florida; extended family, Michelle and Alex Jamison; good friends, Betty Merrill and sons, and Garth Rumsmoke and numerous cousins and friends. Ron graduated from T.A.E. in 1959, was a veteran of the US Navy, for a brief time worked at the Bridge Works in Elmira Heights and was a retired Corrections Officer from Sing Sing and Elmira Correctional Facility. Throughout his retirement he was a handy man, carpenter and sub contractor. He enjoyed gardening, hunting, ice fishing and always had a joke and kind smile. Most of all he was a caregiver to his wife. Along with his wife he was a member of the Chemung County Fire Investigation Unit, member of both Elmira Heights and Breesport Fire Departments, and American Legion Post #154. In keeping with his own wishes and that of his late wife, Family and friends are invited to call at the Barber Funeral Home 413 So. Main St. Horseheads on Tuesday Feb. 2, 2010 from 4-7:00 pm. A service celebrating both the life of Ron and Sandy will follow there at the funeral home at the conclusion of calling hours at 7:00 pm. The family would also like to give a heartfelt thank you to the Breesport Fire Department and Erway Ambulance for their excellent care.
