Obituary of Justine Grace Mattison

MATTISON, Justine Grace Sullivan age 77 of Horseheads, NY passed away at home peacefully on Saturday, October 30th, 2010. Justine was born November 21, 1932 raised in the Town of Catlin by her parents, the late Michael, Sr. and Katherine Sullivan. Justine “Tiney” was a devoted homemaker and a retiree of the Horseheads Central School District where she worked in the cafeteria. She enjoyed staying active with tennis & golf, loved gardening & crocheting but the brightest light of her life was her family and time spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Justine was predeceased by her parents, Michael & Katherine Sullivan; granddaughter, Jodie Voorhees; sister & brother-in-law, Katherine “Kitty” & Clyde Peterson; mother-in-law, Irene Bliss; and brother-in-law, Lester Mattison. Justine was married to Richard Mattison, Sr. on November, 17, 1951 in Horseheads, NY and they enjoyed 58 years together. Survivors include her husband, Richard Mattison, Sr. and her children, KayAnne (Donald) Voorhees, Susan (Charles) Austin, Richard, Jr. (Loralee) Mattison, Neil Mattison all of Horseheads; her grandchildren, Kimberly (Jeffery) Peterson, William (Deserai) Diffenderfer, Stacey Voorhees, Jason Voorhees, Julana Mattison and Justin Mattison; great grandchildren, MaKenzie Peterson, Chloe Peterson & Gabriel Diffenderfer all from Horseheads; sister & brothers, Anne(Frederick) Lawrence, Michael (Cynthia) Sullivan, Jr. , Martin (Patricia) Sullivan; brother-in-law, Paul (Joyce) Mattison all of Horseheads; sister-in-law Geraldine (William) Bruielly of Corning; sister-in-law, Ethel Mattison of Wilmington, NC; brother-in-law, John (Lucille) Mattison of Brookfield, Massachusetts, William Mattison of Pennsylvania, Harvey (Rita) Mattison of Oklahoma, William(Billie)Bliss of Garland, Texas along with aunts & uncles, nieces & nephews & special friends. Family and friends are invited to call at the Barber Funeral Home 413 S. Main St. Horseheads on Tuesday Nov. 2, 2010 from 1-3:00 and 6-8:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Mary Our Mother Church, 816 W. Broad St. Horseheads on Wednesday Nov. 3, 2010 at 9:30 am.
