Obituary of Harry E Pickering

PICKERING, Harry E. Age 89 of Breesport Rd. in Horseheads went home to be with the Lord on Nov. 3, 2010 at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center. Harry was born in Elmira, NY, on July 10, 1921 a son to the late Frank and Myrtle (Hodge) Pickering. He is survived by his wife Margaret Vance Pickering; Sons and daughter, Gerald (Donna) Pickering of Horseheads, NY, Mary (Robert) Van den Brand of Levittown, PA, and Gary (Carol) Pickering of Hot Springs, AR; Nathan (Allie) Pickering, Heidi (Ray) Carillo, Heather (Jason) Burrick, Justin (Lisa) Pickering, Elissa (Paul) Glor, Julie (David) Thomas, Matthew (Laken) Thomas, Phillip (Amie) Clark, Carrie Clark, Margo and Clark; Many great grandchildren; Sister, Lenora Kirouac and many friends. He was also predeceased by his brothers, Clair, Frank and Lloyd. He was a member of Bible Baptist Church in Horseheads and retired from the Star Gazette as a supervisor and Bendix Eclipse as a foreman. He was also a former and active member of Hillcrest Baptist Church. Harry was also a veteran of the US Army serving during WWII. He was a kind and patient man who always had a smile and a kind word to offer. Family and friends are invited to call at the Barber Funeral Home 413 S. Main St. Horseheads today Fri. Nov. 5, 2010 from 4-7:00 pm. His service will take place at the funeral home on Sat. Nov. 6, 2010 at 10:00 am with his son, the Rev. Gary Pickering and the Rev. Alex Raducz officiating. A graveside service officiated by the Rev. Doug Foreman will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery where military honors will be accorded.
