Obituary of William K. Knowles

KNOWLES, William K. Age 82 of Elmira and longtime resident of Ridge Rd. in Horseheads passed away Dec. 9, 2010 after a long illness. Bill was born Oct. 4, 1928 in Glasgow, Scotland a son to Richard and Sarah (McInally) Knowles. He was predeceased by his wife, Estrella M. (Perez) Knowles in 1994; He is survived by his wife, Agnes Pensabene Knowles; Sons and daughter, Peter ( Katie) Knowles of Elmira, NY, William (Kattie) Knowles of Horseheads, NY, and Estelle (Steve) Dembosky of Horseheads, NY. Grandchildren, Rebecca and Marisa Knowles; William J. and Logan R. Knowles; along with several nieces and nephews; Bill was the last survivor of fourteen siblings. He was a retired supervisor with the former A&P Plant in Horseheads and a veteran of the US Army serving during the Korean War. He was also an active member of the A&P Retiree group and a communicant of St. Mary Our Mother Church in Horseheads. Family and friends are invited to call at the Barber Funeral Home 413 S. Main St. Horseheads, NY on Monday Dec. 13, 2010 from 4-7:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place in St. Mary Our Mother Church 816 W. Broad St. Horseheads on Tuesday Dec. 14, 2010 at 10:00 am the Rev. Christopher E. Linsler, Celebrant. Graveside committal service with military honors to follow in Maple Grove Cemetery in Horseheads.
