Rita will be laid to rest alongside her family in Elmlawn Cemetery, Kenmore, NY in a private family service. A eulogy offered by Rita's dear niece, Donna Little; Who was Rita? She was a selfless soul who, at the age of 12, saved another child from an oncoming car. Unfortunately, Rita was hit and gravely injured; left invalid for the rest of her life. Despite this, she never complained; she embraced life with all she had. For most of her adult life she was cared for by her loving sister Katherine, another beautiful soul. Rita’s many nieces and nephews all share happy memories of childhood with Rita in Buffalo. She took them to the 25-cent matinee at the Shay’s Lincoln on the corner, took the bus for downtown shopping, or even just a walk around the block. She was the favorite aunt who gave so much love, happiness, and lasting memories for them to cherish. People that knew Rita will share that she was a beautiful soul whom you couldn’t help but smile with whenever you were together. She made you laugh, that’s for sure. After many years at Bethany Manor, Rita came “home” to live with her niece Donna Little, of Horseheads, who had overseen her care at the nursing home for 16 years. They had a very special bond; Rita passed with Donna by her side and with so much love wrapped around her. Loved by many, Rita will be greatly missed. When she told you she loved you, she meant it; it was followed with an “honest to God’. Rita was one of a kind, and then some; a true blessing. She will never be forgotten.
