Obituary of Edward John Melisko

Edward John Melisko Age 93 of Horseheads. Edward was born December 11, 1927 in Deferiet, the son of the late Stephen and Helen (Gregus) Melisko and passed away peacefully on Friday, December 18, 2020. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Shirley; his son-in-law Kevin Sample; and was the last surviving of seven siblings. He is survived by his son Christopher Melisko and grandchildren Dylan, Alex, and Zoe; daughter Stephanie Sample and grandchildren Jeremy, Shaun, and Shannon; eight great grandchildren; along with several nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. Edward served in the U.S. Army during WWII, stationed in Italy. He retired from Great American in Elmira, and enjoyed woodworking and cabinet building. He was an avid bowler and was regularly found at the Corning YMCA working out and swimming, into his 90s. Throughout his life he was known for his lighthearted attitude and his sense of humor. He was adored by those who came to know him. Private services will be held; he will be laid to rest with military honors in his hometown of Deferiet, NY.
