Obituary of Nora K. Barnes

Nora K. Barnes, 63 of Erin, NY took off the flesh on Saturday, December 19, 2020. She was born on December 24, 1956 in South Bend, IN to James W and Sally (McClain) Lawson. Nora had worked at the UCP Children’s Center in Elmira, NY and the Seneca View Nursing Facility in Montour Falls in their recreation departments. Nora loved to read books and to write, often saying she should write a book. She created her own greeting cards, “Everyday by Nora K” that she would send to family and friends for any and all occasions. Whether it be the celebration of a life event or to lift someone’s spirit with words of encouragement. In the spring and summer months, she wanted to be outside in the sun and would take any available opportunity to be at the pool at Watkins Glen State Park or travel to Virginia or Myrtle Beaches to spend time at the ocean. She also enjoyed touring the Finger Lakes Wine Trails with her husband Kevin. Nora is survived by her husband Kevin of 39 years, son Jacob, daughter Bridget Ringler of Indianapolis, IN, granddaughters Danielle, Lola Bell and Ava Marie, and great granddaughter Mia, her brother Mike Lawson (Florida), sisters Patty Ecker (South Bend, IN), Linda Lawson (Brooklyn, NY), and Laura Gurevitch (Keremeos, BC). There will be no calling hours or service as Nora requested. The family will have a Celebration of Life when it is safe to do so, until then raise a glass of wine to Nora.
