Obituary of James C. Hallenbeck

Age 83, formerly of Horseheads, NY. He was born August 17, 1937 in Rome, NY, the son of the late James H. and Ada (Bachelor) Hallenbeck and passed away on Monday, December 21, 2020. In addition to his parents James was predeceased by his sisters, Joyce, Dorothy, and Jan. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Carol (VanEtten) Hallenbeck; his sons James P. (Pamela) Hallenbeck, and Kirk C. Hallenbeck; grandson Justin J. (Beth) Hallenbeck; and brother-in-law, Paul R. VanEtten. James retired as a Special Education Teacher with BOCES and the Horseheads School District. During his career, Jim coached for T-Ball and Little League, as well as coaching Jr. High Basketball and running the scoreboard for Horseheads Basketball games for many years. He spent the summertime with Day Camps in Thorne Street and Ridge Road parks. He was a communicant of the First United Methodist Church of Horseheads, where he taught Sunday School and shared in his faith. Family will celebrate his life in the warmer months on the lakeside, where James and Carol enjoyed spending their later years.
