Obituary of Dean V. Neubauer

Dean V. Neubauer Age 65 of Horseheads, NY. He was born October 8, 1955 in Battle Creek, Iowa, son of late Virgil Albert and Fanchon Kay (Dahleen) Neubauer, and passed away on Wednesday, April 14th 2021. Dean is survived by his loving wife of nearly 40 years, Kimberly (Rennie) Neubauer; son Jason (Lindsay) Neubauer, with their children Aubrey & Hailey; son Bryan (Jen) Neubauer, with their children Zoey & Eloise; daughter Laura (Christopher) Carroll, with their son Liam; siblings Alan (Linda) Neubauer, Lashelle (Doug) Woods, and Lynette (Jamie Grout) Neubauer; nephews Greg (Elizabeth) Woods , Scott (Heather Maki), and Jeff (Katie) Neubauer; along with his extended family of several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and dear friends. Dean was a devoted father; always involved in his children’s activities as they grew up. He enjoyed travelling to Hawaii with his family and spending time together. He volunteered his time and effort to Habitat for Humanity as well as several church committees at the First United Methodist Church of Horseheads, where he attended with his family. Achieving his Bachelor’s from Iowa State University and later a Master’s from Rochester Institute of Technology, Dean’s education and expertise led him to a career with Corning Inc. that spanned 40 years. Starting with Corning Inc. in 1981, Dean worked his way to become an Engineering Fellow, in addition to his role as a Chief Statistician and a Data Analytics Leader. He provided statistical expertise to all Corning plants and divisions, both domestic and worldwide. He held 16 patents, and developed a passion for teaching; he developed and taught statistics courses for Corning from 1987 while also retiring from RIT as an adjunct professor in the Dept. of Graduate Mathematics & Statistics. He co-authored several books in the field of Master’s level Statistics. He was the recipient of several prestigious awards, including the 2017 Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. He will be greatly missed by his family, and all those whose lives he touched. Family and friends are invited to visit the First United Methodist Church of Horseheads,1034 W Broad St., Horseheads, NY 14845, on Friday, April 23rd 2021 from 11 am to 1 pm. Dean’s memorial service will be held there at 1 pm. He will be laid to rest in Woodlawn Cemetery, in Elmira. Those wishing may make a donation in his name to Habitat For Humanity by clicking here
