Obituary of Susan Eileen Carberry

We are sad to announce the passing of Susan Eileen Carberry of Big Flats NY. Our beloved Susan died at age 59 on Monday, October 3, 2022. Susan passed away after a courageous battle with cancer and is now home in heaven with her many friends and family members she cherished. Susan graduated Horseheads high school then went on to study journalism at Buffalo State with an internship in London at the House of Commons. Susan was a devoted mother, wife, artist and designer who enjoyed reading, gardening, and helping others through her daily devotion to our Lord Jesus Christ. Susan travelled the world living on the Grenadine Island Bequia, then NYC working as a news journalist in the NJ area. She later moved to Toronto working and studying antique furniture refinishing and then moved back home to Big Flats NY to raise her daughter Isabella. Her passion to help people continued by sponsoring children in Haiti after inspiring her family to take a mission trip in 2012 after the hurricane devastated Haiti. Susan is survived by her husband Joel Carberry, daughter Isabella Carberry, brother Jim Bacon, nephews and niece Luke Bacon, Adrian Bacon and Rain Smith. Susan was predeceased by her father Frank Bacon and mother Patricia Bacon A celebration of Susan's life will be held at the Hilltop Inn, 171 Jerusalem Hill Rd., Elmira on Wednesday, October 12th from 1 to 4 pm for family and friends. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to be made to Economic Opportunity Program, 650 Baldwin St., Elmira 14901, where Susan loved to teach art to children.
