Obituary of Richard Earl Knapp

Richard Earl Knapp Age 88 of Horseheads, NY and formerly of Deltona, FL. He was born March 13, 1934 in Elmira, NY, son of the late Orley Stooks Knapp and Rhea Phyllis (Edgcomb) Knapp. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his son Richard Allen "Ricky" Knapp in 2021; along with his siblings Lois Knapp Danks, and David Orley Knapp. He is survived by his wife of over 40 years Louise Edna (Smith) Knapp; his daughters Sue Barsavage, and Kim (Dennis) Clute; stepdaughter Beth Marczyk; grandchildren Alex Barsavage, Jason (Amanda) Barsavage, Jeremy (Jessica Mazzo) Clute, Richard Thomas Knapp, Megan Clute, Tessa (Austin Rohde) Liquori; four beloved great grandchildren; with several nieces, nephews, and extended family & friends. Richard served his country in the U.S. Army, being discharged honorably as a Corporal. He retired from New York Telephone after 33 years, later spending 12 years working with the Glen Abbey Golf Course while he and Louise were living in Florida. He and Louise have been active members of the New Beginnings United Methodist Church in Elmira since they returned to New York. He will be fondly remembered by all those whose lives he touched, especially by his loving grandchildren and great grandchildren. Family and friends are invited to visit New Beginnings United Methodist Church, 300 E. Miller St., Elmira, NY 14904, on Friday, October 21st 2022 at 11 am to celebrate Richard's memorial service, with military honors. A luncheon gathering will be held afterwards. Committal and interment will follow in Woodlawn cemetery, Elmira, NY.
